This Privacy Policy describes how CrestNotes ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and handles your information when you use the CrestNotes application ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when creating an account (name, email address) and information generated through your use of the App (meeting recordings, transcripts, AI-generated summaries, and action items). We also collect standard usage data such as device type, operating system, and error logs to improve the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve the App. This includes processing your audio recordings through third-party speech-to-text services (Deepgram) and generating summaries via AI (Anthropic Claude). We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Audio Recordings and Transcripts
Meeting audio is captured locally on your device and transmitted to our servers for processing. Transcripts and AI-generated summaries are stored in your account. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have obtained all necessary consents from meeting participants before recording. We are not responsible for recordings made without proper consent.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services which may process your data: Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database and file storage), Deepgram (speech-to-text transcription), and Anthropic (AI-generated summaries). Each service operates under its own privacy policy. By using the App, you acknowledge that your data may be processed by these services.
5. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting support@crestnotes.com. We will delete your data within 30 days of a verified deletion request, except where retention is required by law.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the App at your own risk.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@crestnotes.com. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. No Warranties
This Privacy Policy describes our current practices and intentions in good faith. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding our data handling practices beyond what is stated here. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability arising from your use of the App or reliance on this policy.
